A little about us

At Newcastle Perinatal Place, we understand that conception, pregnancy and parenthood can be an exciting and also challenging time. It can take time to build a family and we know that every individual, couple and family is unique.

From fertility and conception, through to postpartum and early parenting; our aim is to support you in navigating this time in your life. While our primary focus is perinatal psychology, we seek to provide access to a range of health services to provide wholistic perinatal care.

Our space has been thoughtfully created to give you a soft place to land when you’re navigating life’s challenges.

Dr Shanna Logan (She/Her)


CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST 

Shanna is a clinical psychologist dedicated to perinatal mental health. She takes a warm and engaging approach to assist families to navigate the difficulties that can arise throughout the fertility and parenting journey.

Shanna draws on therapy modalities that are person centred and emotion focused. She is trained in specialised therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), schema focused therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and circle of security parenting (COSP) program strategies. Shanna also offers couple therapy using emotionally focused therapy (EFT).

She has completed specialist training in Perinatal Mental Health with the Perinatal Training Centre. Shanna is also a trained COSP Program facilitator, is authorised to deliver non-directive pregnancy counselling, and is an AHPRA board approved supervisor.

Emily Fraser (She/Her)


PERINATAL PSYCHOLOGIST 

Emily is a warm and nurturing psychologist with a special interest in perinatal and infant mental health. She provides support to individuals and families throughout the entire perinatal and early parenting journey, including those undergoing fertility treatment and families who have experienced perinatal loss. 

Emily understands the challenges that can arise when trying to grow and raise family, and therefore provides a supportive and safe place for her clients to navigate through their experiences to create meaningful change.

She brings a flexible approach to evidence-based practice by drawing on various therapy modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Attachment-Focused Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (AF-EMDR), and circle of security parenting (COSP) strategies. Emily has completed specialist training in Perinatal Mental Health with the Perinatal Training Centre and is also authorised to deliver non-directive pregnancy counselling.

Georgina Draxler (She/Her)


Georgina Draxler

PERINATAL PSYCHOLOGIST 

Georgina is a registered psychologist dedicated to supporting individuals and families during the perinatal period. She is passionate about helping clients navigate the challenges of infertility, loss, grief, birth trauma, and parenting confidence. With a warm and empathetic approach, Georgina tailors’ therapy to meet each client's unique needs, aiming to create a safe and empowering environment.

Georgina is experienced in providing neuro-affirming support to autistic and ADHD individuals. She approaches therapy with a person-centred and trauma-informed approach, employing a variety of therapeutic modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Schema Therapy. 

Georgina has completed specialist training in Perinatal Mental Health through the Perinatal Training Centre and has experience in the Tuning into Kids program. She is also authorised to deliver non-directive pregnancy counselling, offering comprehensive, compassionate care tailored to each client’s journey.
